Pokémon NAC - Week 16 Steel

Good morning all!

I have been working over and over on my Ghost nails for Week 15 and I just am not happy with any of my attempts. I've gotten quite frustrated with myself and so I've taken a break and moved onto Steel week. I chose Scizor because he's just the man! Only seen one episode with him in, but after searching tumblr there are quite a few mentions of him that I obviously havent seen just yet!

Low and behold, first attempt and I'm really happy with them! I used Cadillacquer's We'll Meet Again as my base as it sparkles with tiny flecks of red which are the exact colour of Scizor. What do you think of my freehand? I'm really quite proud of these!

Pokémon NAC - Week 14 Dragon

Hey all!

Pokémon nails again - I will complete this challenge!

Its dragon week today, and especially in game you've gotta love dragons. Up until recently, they were pretty much the shizz, but now they've introduced Fairy types (aka Annoying. As. ****.) Dragons aren't quite as strong as they used to be. No worries, theres still some amazing Dragon pokémon - just a shame most of them are Gen 3 or later!

So I went for Kingdra. It's the only new addition to the Dragon category this generation and it's a bit of a poor looking dragon - it's defo still pretty cool as a water type though. I've never used it in game, or seen much of it in the animé which is a shame! There is one episode though which proper makes me laugh - Kingdra vs Totodile haha! Totodile ends up chomping him on the nose and when I saw this GIF I just had to include it!

I tried for Nimbus nails again, but my choice of polishes didn't pan out quite as well this time.. but no matter. I'm pleased with my freehand.

Pokémon NAC - Week 12 Ice

Smoochum!!

Had to be done. Smoochum has a proper lovely storyline in the anime too - her owner is a famous movie star, who Smoochum supported all his life to become famous (there are heartaching scenes of her washing dishes with him!)  but his managers think he should have a more manly pokémon and so he has to hide Smoochum from all of his fans. In the end, he reveals that he loves Smoochum and if they won't accept that, he will deal with not being famous anymore. And of course, they still love him, and they love Smoochum more! Happy endings!

So here are my Smoochum nails! I followed the Nimbus Nail Tutorial from Nailasaurus for the base, and then I freehanded some kisses using Taras Talons Fallen Leaves on all nails apart from my middle finger.

I then freehanded Smoochum onto that nail. What do you think? I am really pleased with these, I have to say!

Pokémon NAC - Week 11 Rock

Hello everyone!

I've got another installment of the Pokémon Nail Art Challenge for you today! If I was on time, then the challenge actually ends next week.. so I am playing major catch up! Here's the first one - Corsola! 

I know Corsola has been done before but there is a distinct lack of rock pokémon.. Rhyhorn and Rhydon are just not doing it for me! Plus Corsola has a good storyline as becoming Misty's pokémon in the animé.

I started with a single coat of Essie - Butler Please, and then coated with a splash of Sinful Colors - Hottie as my base.

I then freehanded my Corsola from memory - what do you think?

Hello everyone! I am very pleased and honoured that Rachael was willing to put one of my manicure on her blog, and I hope you will appreciate it ^^. So, pokémon nail art is my big speciality and with halloween coming soon, I really wanted to draw gengar! This pokémon is super funny and scary at the same time, so I really love it! For the background colour, I used a franken that I just created and that I called "gengar's puke". It is a teal/purple duochrome that I applied on a black base. Since the colours matched the ozotic 528, I decided to apply a layer of my ozotic, to give a more "sparkly" look. I drew gengars on my thumb and ring finger, and scary faces on the other nails. 

 

Wait, you can't see the scary faces? I'll switch the light off...

Boo! 

I hope you were not too scared :p

Pokémon NAC - Week 10 Psychic

Good morning!

Another installment of my favourite ever challenge - Pokémon! This week is Psychic!

And here are my nails - inspired by the original opening scene of all Pokémon episodes :)

What do you think? I did them from memory, hence after watching the opening realising that Mew doesn't show up in space in the same colours as I painted him.. or look half as goofy, but overall I'm still pretty pleased with them!

Pokémon NAC Week 8 - Electric

Hello again!

Another pokémon mani today - this time my favourite electric pokémon and first choice every time for the game. Ampharos!



 I always pick up a low level Mareep as soon as I can find one, then I raise it to evolve to Flaaffy and finally to Ampharos. I am mega excited about the new version of Ampharos coming in X and Y - only 2 and a bit weeks to go and ITS ALL MINE!!!

I see a sick day coming... only joking! 

So anyway, here are today's nails:

Base - Sinful Colors Black to Black with 1 coat of Green Ocean

Freehanded Ampharos on my ring finger and lightning on my middle.

What do you think? I had one of those days where I took 100 photos and they all looked the same when I came to edit them.. so I managed to cut down to 1. LOL - sorry!

Pokémon NAC Week 7 - Poison

Hey all!

Yaaaaaaay another installment of my favourite challenge - Pokémon (gotta paint em all :D)

Today is Poison, which I proper groaned at. I hate poison attacks, theyre so annoying. I'm a hit them and bash them hard, very little strategy type player, unless its against a friend, then of course I am full of strategy. But poison is never something I go for, I'm a lover of the Ghost move Curse and then I tend to revert to hitting them with everything I have and reviving constantly haha!

There are only 3 new poison pokemon in Gen 2, so I went for the one I actually used in game. The first time round I played, I started late at night and picked up a low level Spinarak. They're actually pretty cute I think for a bug / poison pokemon and especially for a spider. I played with him for at least 2 or maybe even 3 gyms, so thats a long time for a bug pokemon which are pretty much weak and rubbish for fighting with.

My nails are a base of Deborah Lippmann - Wicked Game, with some freehanded spiders webs and of course my freehanded Spinarak.

What do you think? I wasnt sure at first, but I quite like the duochrome background for these :)

Pokémon NAC Week 6 - Grass - Chikorita

Good morning!

Got some more Pokémon nail art for you today! Still trying to best my Chinchou nails, but not sure I'm there quite yet. 

I chose Chikorita cause its definitely the cutest starter from Gen 2. I always want to collect all 3 starters, but I normally choose Cyndaquil or Chikorita to start as Totodile is just annoying in the anime and my dislike has kind of stuck! I also love Chikorita in the anime as she adores Ash and is dead jealous of Pikachu and any other pokémon's relationship.

I used my new A-England's Dragon and St George and tried a gradiented base. Semi successful I think?

Chikorita kept going derpy, so this is attempt 2. I couldnt get the eyes quite right! I realised after I took the mani off that they didnt photo quite right either, but I was still pretty pleased with them anyway.

What do you think? Do you think it looks right?

Pokemon NAC Week 5 Flying - Natu

Hey all! 

Got another edition of the Pokemon nail art challenge today! 

I had a fab idea to try watercolour nails as the background for this mani - I tried following the tutorial over at Paulinas Passions, but I think I must need pure acetone as nail polish remover was just not doing the job - my polish would not go watery and even, just globby. 

So you'll see my background is less than satisfactory, but I decided to not be wasteful and use it anyway!

Today's pokemon I chose was Natu - I always choose Natu in the games as my flying and psychic type, especially for the league as I try and have an even balance of pokemon types, strengths and weaknesses. 

So here are my little lovebird Natus. Unfortunately one of them is a bit derpy!

Pokémon NAC - Week 3 Fighting - Hitmontop

Hey all!

Another pokémon installment today. This time its Hitmontop. Fighting pokémon are thin on the ground for the first few generations, so I just went for a cuter option.

I desperately need a new small detailer brush. Not happy with my outlining at all, but can you see the general resemblance?

Pokémon NAC - Week 2 Fire - Cyndaquil

Hey all!

What a surprise, I'm super late with this one.

Cyndaquil is the HARDEST ever pokémon to freehand. And I chose to do him on two seperate nails? Whats wrong with me?!

Anyway, here is my mani. Not my best work but its all a learning curve :)

Still loving my Sinful Colors UFO glitter which is on my middle and pinky over the Zoya base colour.

What do you think? Is it as bad as I think it is?

Pokémon Nail Art Challenge - Week 13 Rock - Golem

Hello!

Finally got my nails done for Rock week!

I chose Golem - and I thought, Golems so 'grr manly' that he can rock some hot pink nails haha!

The polishes I used are:

L'Oréal - Opulent Pink (base)

Sally Hansen - Choco Latte mixed with Nail Junkie - Coffee for head and arms

Sally Hansen - Grass Slipper mixed with Nail Junkie - Coffee for shell

Sinful Colors Black to Black and Snow Me White for details.
