For the love of... dots! #2 - Chubby Owl Polish

Good morning!

I am back again with another dot installment - this time from the lovely Chubby Owl Polish.

This is my first polish from Jemma - and definitely not my last! I picked this up from her sale and my goodness it is just beautiful.

I wasn't sure about the star element - I am pinickity about shapes. I have decided I like diamonds, squares and circles. Hearts are acceptable in the right polish. This is the first polish where I have okayed stars. They just work wonderfully with the colours in the mix. Metallic pink dots, royal blue small glitters and small silver stars. Such a simple combination but they just look beautiful on my nails. I can't stop looking at them!

For the love of... dots! #1 - Indy's Indies

Hey all!

I have been fairly quiet so far this year - its busy busy as always and blogging has had to take a backseat sort of, to all the new things cropping up!

I do love blogging however, and I want to stay in love with it - hence I will be keeping up my posting of between 1 and 3 posts a week, depending on how busy I get. It's nice to know that even a few people read my blog or check out my pictures - I'm not bothered about having loads of followers etc, I am happy with what I have - so if you're reading this, thank you!

Anyway, I thought I would share my latest loves with you - dots. Dots and indies. So I have a series of posts for you over the next week or so to showcase some of my absolute favourite indie dots from the very talented UK indie scene.

So here are the first two - I grouped these together because they are from the same brand - Indy's Indies. You can find II at the following places:

The first I have for you is Balloon House, inspired by the film UP! I love the film, and I love the polish - it is jam packed with a rainbow of small matte dots all in one size, in a clear base. It is unique in my collection and was actually an impulse buy - when I was waiting for it to arrive I was almost regretting buying it, but now I have it I am just totally in love with it. The smaller circles are fairly easy to get out of the bottle with them being small aswell which is great.

The second I have for you is Baubles. This was a Xmas polish, but Danielle made me one up on request (how lovely is she?!) again, this is a rainbow of colours but in a variety of sizes and all metallic. I wore this just for an afternoon out shopping in Durham and I got so many compliments, and I also spent a fair amount of time wiggling my nails about and staring at them shining in the light. Gorgeous!

Indy's Indies may be shutting down for awhile, so if you want anything - make sure you get in there quick!

What do you think of these two polishes? Do you have a favourite? Are there any other II polishes that you love?

------

Good morning all!

After a good few years of having no holidays, I am finally getting myself a way for a week. So while I am away, I am leaving you in the very capable hands of some guest bloggers who have offered to entertain you!

First up is a fantastic blogger, another Rachel (Best name ever. Fact.) from Monkey Nails <3 After seeing her photos, I just had to leave you with her post first as its getting me excited for the beautiful blue waters of Majorca!

------------------------------------------------------

Hi there! When I said I'd do a guest post for Racho's Nail Love there was no contest what it was going to be about - my name is also Rachel, and one of the meanings of the name is ewe - that is, a female sheep. I got started on my sheep nails and there was going to be green glitter and googly eyes... then I left all my nail gear at my partner's house when I came home and I found myself with a problem. No googly eyes, no paintbrushes and no nail polish, not even a base coat. So I got inventive! What I did have was a whole bunch of new polishes that had just arrived in the posts from Nails Inc and Tara's Talons. I also found some PVA glue, a blunted pencil and some cotton buds. So here's what I came up with:

I used the PVA glue as a base coat. I applied it just before a long drive so by the time I got home it was totally dry! Then I applied three coats of Reef by Tara's Talons. I'm loving this dreamy blue polish - it reminds me of looking into a pond - there are bits of gold and green glitter in it and the slightly sheer finish means you feel like you're looking right the way to the bottom. I added dots of Tara's Talons Champagne and Nails Inc Mornington Crescent with the tip of the blunt pencil. (The more blunt the pencil is, the bigger the dots will be!) This look reminds me of paintings of water lilies by Monet. Did you know that Water Lilies is actually a series of about 250 paintings, and not just one? I did not.

I removed a bit of the cotton from the tip of my cotton bud and dipped it in nail varnish remover. Using just a little bit of cotton and the blunt end of the cotton bud made it much easier to clean up around my cuticles. And the marvellous thing about PVA glue is that it all just peels off afterwards!
Of course, this means that when I get all my nail art stuff back I'm going to have to finish off my Rachael/Rachel inspired nails. But this is not exactly much of a chore!

Thanks to Rachael for having me and I hope to see some of you over at Monkey Nails!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you again Rachel for your fantastic post, your nails are so beautiful and I am sure everyone else will think so too!

ER31DC Day 24 - Inspired by a Book

Good morning!

Got another episode of the 31DC for you today - I'm getting there! Today's is inspired by a book. I recently finished book 3 and 4 of the Rachel Mariana Morgan / The Hollows series by Kim Harrison.

If you haven't read any of these books, then check out the first one here:

I really love all the characters, but I instantly thought 'this is what I'm doing for the 31DC' when I first read about Ivy and her cross necklace. She always dresses in black leather (hence the black matted nails) and I dotted and freehanded my imagined version of her cross necklace onto my accent nail.

What do you think? I'm still not a fan of matte.. maybe in time it may grow on me!

ER31DC - Day 16 Tribal

Hey all!

Here I am again - am I sick? Maybe. Catching up super quick for the 31 Day Challenge. Today is Tribal. I took inspiration from the tribal artwork we used to study in art at school. Absolutely loved it and still stop to ogle it if i see it in a gallery or shop window. This is the picture I took inspiration from - can you see the different sections I took from?

The colours I used were Sally Hansen - The Sky's the Limit, Barry M - Mushroom and Sinful Colors - Black to Black and Snow Me White.

What do you think? Would you wear it? Does it look tribal to you?
