TIOT - Nails Inc - Clifford Street

This is a relatively new polish for me - Nails Inc - Clifford Street. I picked it up as part of the 'Gold Rush' Collection - it was one of 4 polishes that have some sort of golden element to them.

As you can see, its quite a dark, purple blue colour with a subtle gold shimmer. The shimmer is easily noticeable in the bottle, but doesnt translate onto the nail as obviously. Application was lovely - two coats to be certain but I think with careful application, this could be a 1 coater if you're in a hurry.

After swatching this, I was a little disappointed with the end result not having as much shimmer as I had hoped. But then when I caught my nails in direct light they just lit up - with the weather etc around here its quite dull atm, so I was over the moon to see what these really lived up to in the light :) problem solved!

Can't believe the difference - you wouldnt think it was the same polish!

What do you think? Do you like the shade / Nails Inc in general? I've only just recently started to buy Nails Inc and I have to say I have been really pleased with the quality of all of them - the shades, formula, brushes.. really can't fault them (and I shouldn't for the retail price!)

TIOT - Loréal - Paris Avenues

This is not only a new untried colour to me, but is also a new untried brand for me too. I've never had a Loréal polish before. Mainly because these sweet little 5ml bottles are around £7 - more expensive than most 15ml polishes!

I spotted this, and a few other colours at my favourite place - The Bargain Barrow :)

I picked up a few colours but wanted to try this first. Its 621 - a beautiful slatey grey-blue creme called Paris Avenues. It has a lovely formula - not too thick but ALMOST a one coater. You can JUST see a VNL so I think two coats is needed. Dry time was pretty good - around 2-3 minutes which with only two coats needed is fine. It also has quite a wide brush which is fab.

What do you think? I really love it, especially as a muted work polish :)

TIOT - The Nail Junkie - Watermelon

There seems to be a running theme to my TIOT posts so far!

It just so happens that this is the next polish that I came across in my mass of untrieds. I got this in my last buy from Aleta at The Nail Junkie - one of my favourite indie polish makers as she has a great range of polishes without masses of glitter in!

This is Watermelon. In the photos I saw before buying, it did look a little more red/pink. In RL its more orange - almost neon. It has a beautiful goldish shimmer to it, which I found really difficult to capture with my phone camera. On one of the photos you can just about see it in the bottle.

Watermelon has a gorgeous jelly texture and like all of Aleta's polishes it is really quick drying. Here I am wearing two coats - at some angles this does leave a visible nail line, so I'm sure 3 would fix this, or layering over a similar colour. However I do really like this just as it is, and think I will keep it just at two coats. I love how shiny this is too - none of the photos have a top coat :) x

What do you think? Do you have any Nail Junkie polishes?

Try It On Tuesday! (TIOT) - Revlon Watermelon Fizz

So the challenge is drawing to a close - my thoughts were what can I do next? I don't fancy another challenge as intense as FFF again just yet - I just want to enjoy the moment (and that its over!) I know I prepped many in advance, but its just the time of year where I am full of busy!

I thought this would be a nice little post once a week :) I've seen everyone posting their pictures over on Jilltastic's facebook page and have been thinking for awhile that I would like to join in!

Here is my first TIOT - Revlon Watermelon Fizz. I picked this up from the 'Bargain Barrow' in the Metro Centre - its one of the first places I go to have a browse for new (to me) shades on a budget. This cost me £1.99, which I am really pleased with.

Watermelon Fizz is a beautiful shade. I find it quite difficult to explain it other than to me, its pinky orange red and is very bright. It has a gorgeous jelly texture, which is quite on the thin side, so it needs layering for full effect. I have 3 coats on all nails (no undies) and you can still see a visible nail line at some angles. I think this could easily be fixed if layered over the right polish. The formula is like most Revlon polishes - quite runny. If done thin enough, the coats do dry quickly though.

The wonderful thing about this polish is that its SCENTED. I was sceptical at first, but I LOVE the smell of this - it really does smell of watermelon once dry. So this for me, overcomes all the other not quite perfect elements to it!

What do you think? Have you tried any scented polishes before? Are you a fan?
